Is it refillable? What ink does it take?
Yes. Every pen takes a Parker-type G2 international cartridge, the same standard the big brands use. It ships pre-loaded with black ink plus a spare in the box, so you get two inks. Bastion refills come in ballpoint or gel, black or blue, and multi-packs, check the BUY NOW section on Whatnot or the site, www.bastionboltactionpen.com. Say: "Parker G2, not Pilot G2. Don't grab the Pilot kind."
How do I replace the ink?
Unscrew the front tip section, drop the old cartridge out, drop the new G2 in, screw it back. Ten seconds.
What's the difference between the materials?
Aluminum is the lightest (~1.1 oz), color-anodized, the easy entry point. Titanium is featherlight and tough, natural silver. Stainless steel is the heaviest at 2.8 oz, the solid premium heft with the tightest machining. Carbon fiber is 3K woven carbon over a stainless core, the flagship look. On all of them the bolt handle is SUS 304 stainless, and we make our own springs from SUS 304. The clip and screws are SUS 304 too, except on the Titanium pen, which gets titanium clips and screws.
Is there a warranty?
Lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Bastion stands behind the pen for life. The ink isn't covered, that's a wear item you just refill.
How much is shipping? Do you combine orders?
Shipping is free on the show, and orders combine automatically. It's quick, just depends where you live.

Left-handed, does it work for me?
Totally. The bolt action is ambidextrous, works exactly the same right or left handed.

Can I swap tips and colors?
Yes. Tips are interchangeable across aluminum, steel and carbon, so grab two colors and mix and match, red tip on a blue body, whatever you like.
Can you engrave or customize it here?
Not on the live, and we don't customize individual orders. But we do bulk custom orders from 50 to 100 pieces. The pens take laser engraving cleanly, and titanium can be anodized. We also run limited editions regularly and feature them on our website.
Is the bolt a good fidget?
It's a satisfying snap, super fidgety, and everything's rounded so it stays comfortable in the hand all day. People genuinely can't put it down.
What point size is it?
Medium-point (0.55mm) ballpoint, writes smooth, comes with black ink. Blue and gel refills are available.
Where are they made?

Bastion is a French word. On a fortress, the bastion is the strongest part of the wall, and it is not hidden behind it. It is built out in front, where the pressure hits first, so that everything behind it stands.
The word carries a second meaning too. Behind "bastion" sits an old French verb, bastir, to build. The same root lives on in modern French: bâtir, to build. The strongest part of a fortress is named after the act of building. That is the whole idea of this company in one word.
We chose the name as a promise. Whatever we build, no matter the product, it has to be strong, durable, something you can rely on. Something that's got your back.
How the pen came to be
Bastion started in 2012 with everyday carry accessories and parts: machined metal, built to be used hard. Then we noticed something. Everyone owns pens. Almost nobody owns a pen they love.
So we built one worth keeping. The name set the bar: reliable, made to last. Machined from a solid bar of metal, built around a bolt you work with one hand, backed for life.
The bolt was the point. Most pens click open without you noticing. A Bastion pen opens with a flick of the bolt and a satisfying click you can feel snap into place. It turns picking up a pen into a small decision: now I am writing.
We put the first one on Kickstarter, and it became a huge success. Hundreds of thousands of Bastion pens have shipped since, to writers all over the world.
But why a pen?
You bring things into the world in three ways. You think them. You speak them. You write them. Writing is the only one that leaves a mark you can hold in your hand.
Write a thing down and it stops floating. It moves out of your head and onto a page, where you can look at it, decide about it, and act on it. Researchers call this offloading. People who write every day put it more simply: the page is a safe space, an external hard drive for the brain. And the page is yours in a way nothing on a screen is. Private, off the feed, shown to no one until you decide.
That is why we make pens. Handwriting is how a life that just happens to you becomes one you steer. The plan you sketch, the promise you sign, the page that finally holds the thing that kept you up at night: all of it starts with ink going down.
